SSC Society Dependents' Fund

The Society of Solicitors in the Supreme Courts of Scotland

The members of the SSC Society have resolved to close absolutely the Dependents’ Fund (previously known as the Widows’ and Orphan’s Fund) and a bye-law to that effect was made at a special general meeting on 27 September 2022.

The Council of the Society intends to arrange for the payment on actuarial advice of compensation to annuitants and to those who would be annuitants but for the closure of that fund.

The Collector of the fund believes that the Society has the names and addresses of everyone with a right to such compensation, but the Council wishes to hear from anyone who thinks that they have or may an entitlement from the fund.

If anyone does believe that they have such an entitlement, or they know of someone whom they believe to have such an entitlement as annuitant or potential annuitant, intimation in writing should be made to explain their connection with the fund and provide details in support:

By post: The Secretary, SSC Library, 11 Parliament Square, Edinburgh, EH1 1RF

You must contact the society within 30 days of the date of this notice. The Society will decline to be liable for any compensation for closure of the fund if any claim of entitlement is not intimated at or before the time of distribution.
