Hiring Opportunity: Librarian for the SSC Society

The SSC Society (SSC) is a professional organisation of solicitors and solicitor-advocates founded in 1784, serving a membership which practises throughout Scotland and in every aspect of law.  It is based in Parliament House which also houses the Supreme Courts of Scotland and has its own private library available to members, together with a meeting room for training, consultations and social events.

The SSC is seeking a Librarian whilst it undergoes modernisation and redesign of its services for members and development of a new training service for new lawyers.  We are looking for an enthusiastic person with ideas and initiative to help us continue our drive to modernise and grow our membership. The ideal candidate will have good legal/business research skills and have some recent enquiry experience using both hard-copy and electronic resources. We need someone with a ‘can do’ attitude who will relish the opportunities and challenges that working in a small organisation with first class library resources can offer.

Although the position is full-time, part-time working for a minimum of three days a week would also be considered.  Salary negotiable and competitive, dependent on qualifications and experience.  Closing date 5pm Sunday 17th March 2024. For further information including a job description and how to apply see the attached documents.
