Phil Scott died suddenly at his home in Dundee on 10 August, aged 60. He was born in Huddersfield in 1952 but moved to Perth with his family at the age of four. He married Jennifer Findlay (born at Carlisle in 1954) in 1977 and joined the SSC Society in December 1983. He studied law at Dundee University, graduating in 1973, was apprenticed to Gilruth Pollock & Smith in Dundee and stayed as an assistant and then a partner in the firm, specialising in Residential Conveyancing. The firm amalgamated with Carlton & Reid in 1987, to become Carlton Gilruth (later Carltons) and then merged with Blackadder Reid Johnston to become Blackadders. He retired in March 2011. He is survived by two children of his marriage (which ended in divorce), Sarah, 30, and Andrew, 28, and by his partner Vera.
