Alexander Leonard McNicoll died on 17 August, aged 86. He was born in Glasgow in 1926, married Catherine Helen Morrison (born in Glasgow in 1929) in 1954, graduated MA, LLB and joined the SSC Society in June 1970. Her served on the SSC Council from 1979 to 1983. He was Depute Town Clerk in Edinburgh until the creation of Lothian Regional Council, and served the Council as a solicitor until he retured. He is survived by his widow, Catherine McNicoll.
